F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q1- If we have never done any Rafting before, can we still go down the Mistassibi River?
A1 - Yes. Whether this is your first experience or you are a well-experienced rafter, the Québec Raft Team will be able to meet your needs. We offer tours for beginners to experts. In addition, there are three important conditions for participation. They are: ability to swim, weighing a minimum of 90 lbs. and having an adventurous spirit.
Q2 - How many participants are there per boat?
A2 - Our 14' rafts can accomodate up to 8 paddlers and 1 guide.
Q3 - Must we book in advance?
A3 - Making reservations in advance is always preferable. However, we are always pleased to take last minute reservations if space is available. All you need to do is contact us by phone and pay upon arrival. Some days are busier than others and spaces are often not available. To provide you with the most personalized service possible, we strongly encourage you to contact us prior to showing up on site.
Q4 - Do we need to be a group to make a reservation?
A4 - No. You can be one or in a group to make a reservation. If you're alone, we will place you with another existing group. Please contact us by phone or e-mail in order to determine the availabilities.
Q5 - Should we arrive in advance?
A5 - We suggest that you arrive 10-15 minutes before the start time of your activity. Departures for Rafting are 9:00 and 14:00, 7 days a week during the summer season. For information on other scheduled activities, please contact Québec Raft.
Q6 - Where is the meeting point for the activities?
A6 - The Grande du Faisan which is located at the 1031 Main Street (rue Principale), in the village of St-Stanislas, North of the Lac-Saint-Jean, Québec. You can refer to the 'Google Map' or 'Map Quest' link to find the itinerary.
Q7 - Are excurions ever cancelled due to bad weather?
A7 - Rain or shine, activities always take place. However, there are certain exceptions such as electric storms. We suggest that you phone Québec Raft in order to verify if the activites take place.
Q8 - Does QuébecRaft offer bilingual services?
A8 - Yes. Québec Raft is proud to always offer bilingual services in both French and English.
Q9 - Can we bring assorted objects on the River?
A9 - It is preferable to keep all carry-on objects to a minimum. All rafts are equiped with First Aid kits.
Q10 - Are there any snacks offered on the excursions?
A10 - Yes. We offer drinks and granola bars mid-way through the excursions. There is also a canteen at the Basecamp and a nearby restaurant in St-Stanislas. If you have a particular event to highlight such as a birthday or a batchlor party, we offer catering services with full meal services according to your needs and budget.

Q11 - Does Québec Raft film the excursions?
A11 - Yes. We have a kayak videographer that accompanies every trip to capture unforgettable moments of the day. At the end of each trip, we view together the video of the day on the Mistassibi River. A DVD copy is available for souvenir at a cost of $40.00 (CAD) taxes included.
Q12 - What should we bring for the trip?
A12 - All items to bring and not to bring are listed on the RESERVATION page.
Q13 - If we wear glasses or contact lenses, can we wear them on the River?
A13 - We suggest that you wear appropriate safety glasses or disposable contact lenses. We have safety straps for glasses on sale at the Basecamp. However, Québec Raft is not responsible for items damaged or lost before, during or after the River excursions.
Q14 - When does the season begin?
A14 - Québec Raft usually opens from June 1st to October 1st. Depending on the season and River conditions, Québec Raft might open its doors earlier. You must contact Québec Raft, its website or Facebook page in order to verify the exact opening date.
Q15 - Are there any nearby accommodations?
A15 - Yes. There is a camping at the Lac Éden (www.st-stanislas.com), an Inn in St-Stanislas (www.aubergeauvive.com) and a motel-hotel in Dolbeau-Mistassini (www.hotelier.qc.ca), all within a 15km radius.
Q16 - Is there a weight limit for Rafting?
A16 - Yes. This is rather rare but unfortunately some people with certain weights may be refused access to certain activities due to security reasons (restrictions and compliance with regulatory equipment). You may wish to contact Québec Raft in advance to confirm your eligibility.
